My Collection

Hey y'all
I was cleaning the other day and dumped my make-up bag, I would say I am obsessed with eyeshadow. I know I don't wear it all the time but I love the colors that MAC makes the pigment is so vivid. Look out for a few pics of my eyes :)

The Good Hair Blog's Protective Style Challenge

Hey yall,
So of course yall have heard me mention the Good Hair Blog by Alex who is also the owner of Safi Hair Care. Well she is starting a protective style challenge to reach her goal of APL(Arm Pit Length Hair) by December and I thought I would jump on board too! It starts August 1st which is perfect because I have been rather lazy with my hair lately and I miss the twists so this weekend they will be back. Now I do have to admit my length goal will not be able to be met by the end of the challenge because I am MBL(Mid-Back length) and want to be WL (Waist Length) but that will be sometime this time next year I'm sure. But this is a good way to give my hair a break and also beat the heat because twist outs and braid outs fall victim to this heat every time I step out the house. So head on over to her blog for more details.

P.S. I started my new set of twists last night pics coming soon :)

Product Review: Safi Hair Care's Coil Latte Buttercream

Hey yall,
So on Monday of last week Alex from the Good Hair Blog and the owner of Safi tweeted that she was giving a discount to anyone looking to try her latest addition Coil Latte Buttercream. I didn't hesitate to tweet back and make my purchase. Her items are all the rave and I have been wanting to try them, but she sells out fast. Anyhoo, I made my purchase on Monday and when I checked the mail on Thursday it was here! I had those twists in my hair but couldn't resist opening the jar and placing some on my ends. The scent of CLB is warm and creamy, my ends instantly felt uber soft. The following day I decided to use it for a twist out and on freshly washed hair I placed about 12 twists and they have been in for a few days.
What I love about CLB:
-the scent is warm, everywhere I went people could smell it
-CLB is made with butters but did not leave my hair feeling oily or weighed down.
-A little goes a long way, and the hold is great but not stiff thanks to the Aloe vera
-Shipping was fast!
The only thing that I hate is that I will have to wait until September to try the rest of her line, Alex has a great work ethic and wants to make sure that her customers receive her products in great shape and not melted from this heat. Which I do understand nothing is worse then a melted jar :( But I will be a repeat customer so look for more reviews of her line as the weather cools off!!!
Xoxo,
TwistedMarie

Bouncy Twist Out

Hey Curlies,
So finally today is Friday and the weekend is near, even though I work on Saturdays. Anyhoo, I wanted to show yall what has been going on with my hair lately. I co-washed on Tuesday night and twisted my hair half up and the rest down. First let me explain the mini disaster, on Monday I made some flaxseed gel and poured in some hibiscus powder and I think I used a bit too much lol. I decided to do a braid out anyway and placed my hair in about 12 braids. The next morning determined to keep my hair from inflating I kept the braids in until it was time for work and then carefully removed them, but as usual by the end of the day my hair was big and puffy ( I always forget to snap those pics because I normally pull it into a pony). So that night I decided to co-wash and place my hair in 12 big twists and I wore them for a few days until the take down this morning. I love the results my hair was still bouncy and defined at the end of the day, I used a bit of Safi's CLB to set the twists. See the pics below enjoy!
XOXO,
TwistedMarie

Product Review: We Rock Roots RockTHERAPY Oil

Hey yall,
So on twitter last week I saw a tweet that was sent out asking bloggers if they would be interested in doing a product review for RockTHERAY oil by We Rock Roots, and of course I replied with yes and sent my info. On Tuesday before I went to work it was in my mailbox waiting and boy was I excited to get home from work and use it. So here are my results:
RockTHERAPY Oil- Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, Horsetail herb, Peppermint Essential Oil and let me tell yall these ingredients work well together, the directions said to apply to itchy or dry scalp,or  use as a hot oil treatment. Since I had already co-washed I decided to apply to my scalp since I have been a bit itchy (which I assume is because of the weather) and instantly the tingle started I placed my scarf on and went to sleep. The next morning my ends were smooth and frizz free which I can assume is because the oil is heavy but I don't mind because I have noticed less frizz and  fly- aways. I am going on four days using the oil and have noticed that my frizz has been reduced. So this oil is surely a winner in my book, if you have frizzy hair and dry scalp then give it a try, you will love the results.  The shipping was fast and the prices for there other signature products are very reasonable so I do plan on ordering again! If you are interested in We Rock Roots click the link for more info! :)

Curls Galore!

Hey yall,
So yesterday was wash day and I really wasn't in the mood to do much with my hair especially since I had it in a twisted ponytail for the whole week. So I decided to try a pre-poo since my hair was feeling a bit dry. If you are not familiar with the term pre-pooing is placing oils on the hair and letting it sit on the hair but using body heat to help condition the hair.So I used evoo (extra-virgin olive oil ) and Vatika oil on my hair and let it sit for about an hour. After the hour with the plastic cap on I applied a cheapie conditioner (V05, I got it for 88 cents at CVS) and left the mix on for about 4 hours while I watched tv and napped. Once I rinsed my hair it was so soft and then I co-washed and pulled my hair into a high ponytail. I must say the conditioning helped reduce some of the frizz that I have been seeing lately and this morning my hair was still defined after sleeping on it. I used the eco styler gel to push back my edges, but I also plan on making more flaxseed gel for the rest of the curls to give it a more controlled look. Stay tuned for my post about the flaxseed gel.

TwistedMarie

I even heard my Mommy screaming lol, we just are so proud of her!

Out And About In Atlanta: Canvas By U

Hey yall,
So I waited all week for Friday night because my good friend Nekita, Shaquana and her friend Cicley and I went to a place called Canvas By U. Which is an art studio and we painted the pictures that you see below the cost is $35 and that includes the paint and canvas(the wine of course is brought on our own!) . This an amazing place the artist already sketched the outline and taught a three hour class that took us step by step to a finished painting( also we drank wine and painted so I am excited mine came out so good!) Each of us painted the same woman but each put our own flair to it. Because I was drinking wine I did have a few mistakes, but we had so much fun. I wanted to take more pictures but my phone died while painting, but here are a few below.
XOXO,
TwistedMarie
P.S If you are interested in more details click on the link above(Canvas By U) and it will take you right to there website! We all plan to go back soon :)

Yesterday's Hair

Hey yall,
So sorry it has been a while since I have posted hair pics, but I have had a lot going on this past week. So tonight I am  posting post that should have been up from the past few days. Anyhoo, Saturday I washed my hair in preparation for this month's henna session. Because I had plans for the next morning I mixed up my henna mix the night before and shampooed with my LUSH bar( which broke in half, but has lasted since the beginning of January) and decided to leave some of the conditioner in because I wanted my hair to be as clean as possible. I put this colorful scarf on which I got from ebay and pulled my damp hair back into a low pony. Once I got up I released it and sprayed it with a little water and went. I guess this would be a wash and go, I normally shingle my hair when I plan on wearing it out, but because I knew I was going to henna I opted for this look. And I am so glad I did because it was so humid in the city that my hair puffed up but I liked the look!

I Found Henna!!!

Hey yall,
Since it is summer time I have received a few emails letting me know that the Jamila Henna crops have come in and that 2011 henna is on sale. I was already to buy since I am trying to henna at least once a month but the shipping has been killing me. So I figured that I should try and look for an Indian market in my area. I got to thinking that the henna has to be the same quality that is being shipped to me because it is waiting on a shelf as well, but the best thing is I don't have to pay for shipping! So I went to goggle and found Shivam it is located in Marietta which is about 15 minutes from me and let me tell you I was so excited. I got Nupar henna for $2.99 for 150 grams and Vatika oil for $4.99 a bottle. I got two packs of the Nupar and spent in all a total of about $12.00 which is a steal! I will post my next pics of the henna results soon.

Out And About In The City : Atlanta Cupcake Factory

Hey yall,
So yesterday afternoon once Alfredo and I left the Aquarium and the World of Coke we headed over to the Atlanta Cupcake Factory. The day before I was at work wanting a Red Velvet Cupcake and found this place and the reviews made my mouth water. It is a tiny little shop located in the Virgina Highlands and let me tell yall the 20 minutes that we spent driving past the shop ,walking to it and me worrying that my car would get towed because I was parked on the side of the street was worth it! Once we got there on display were the flavors of the day (I think it was 35 of them). I of course chose my Red Velvet and Alfredo had a Strawberry Cupcake. I waited until we got back to the car snapped a picture of it and then enjoyed it(forgetting that I was parked on the side of the road lol). This was such a tasty cupcake not dry at all and the perfect cream cheese frosting. The cupcakes are $2.50 for one which is fine by me because one was enough. I plan on going back soon!

Out And About In The CIty

Hey yall,
So yesterday I spent the day with one of my favorite people Alfredo! We went to the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coke which is located in the heart of downtown Atlanta. We purchased the Pemberton Place Pass which allowed us to spend unlimited time in both exhibits for $39.50. Parking was of course $10.00 per car. I must say that we had a blast despite the fact that we got there early it was still kind of crowded. The Georgia Aquarium opened a few years ago and was such a big thing here, I went then and going back was fun the second time around, I took a ton of pictures and we walked through the aquarium in about 30 minutes. The World of Coke of course is where had the most fun because it has been remodeled and moved from it past location neither of us had been since it re-opened. This was the best experience out of the two there was a 4D show that was interactive with sound, motion and water(my face got wet lol!) Of course before we left we went upstairs and sampled different Coca-Cola products from around the world it was 65 in all and then received a free keepsake bottle of Coke made there!  Below are a few pictures. Enjoy! :)

P.S. if you are interested in more info about the pass click the link about to plan a trip :)
