New Twists Set

Hey yall,
So Friday night after I got home I begun the take down from my last set of twists. I spent most of the night and the next morning taking my hair down, washing it and detangling. I have been wanting to do an updo so I decided to flat twists the front and then place medium sized twists in the back. I have gotten so many compliments on this style. I used Shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie to twists my damp hair (which is buy one get one half off at Walgreen's this week, sorry I had to put in my bit of pjism lol) I plan on leaving this set in for two weeks and then doing maybe another updo. I am loving this protective style challenge so much I might just keep it up past November.

Out And About In The City: Sheridan's Frozen Custard

Hey yall,
So Saturday was a very chill type of day, I had made plans to spend the day with my family since I haven't seen them all since a few weeks ago. So we went for lunch and then to Sheridan's Frozen Custard and it is amazing. It has been around for a few years and my family and I have always enjoyed having it as a special treat on a hot day. Custard is a creamy, cold desert that doesn't taste like ice cream and comes in either chocolate or vanilla. I had the vanilla below with fresh strawberries and my sister a Royal turtle with chocolate, hot fudge, caramel and salted pecans. My Mother watched us enjoy since she is doing Weight Watcher's and my nephew had just plain chocolate his favorite. Eyeshadow look #2

Hey Folks,
So Friday was Alfredo's going away party and even though I didn't want him to leave I put on some eyeshadow and a smile and partied it up with him and my old co-workers. This look was pretty easy I created a smokey eye look with the palette below from MAC. The colors from left to right are: Paradisco, Trax, Arena and Shadowy Lady. I love this palette because the colors are really natural and I can wear them everyday in so many different combinations. So for this look below I used Arena as a base and then swept Paradisco and Trax over my whole eye and then used Shadowy Lady to smoke out the look. I wore it to work during the day and got tons of compliments. I created this palette myself while at the MAC store but any of these colors can be purchased separately. I even filled in my own brows and must say I am proud of myself since I tend to over tweeze them lol. I wore the twists down and as you can see they are a frizzy mess and coming out this weekend.

Flower In My Hair

Hey Folks,
So the other night I was trying to create some styles with my twists and placed a flower to give my twists a new look it is a White Orchid and in the first pic I placed it behind my ear to hold my hair back and in the second pic I braided my hair back into one giant braid and then tucked my hair and placed the flower on the side. These are just two quick and simple looks :)

Co-Washing Twists

Hey yall,
So today was my off day and I had plans to do absolutely nothing today! So while watching tv today I realized that I was supposed to co-wash yesterday and I had not. I jumped into the shower and used my Tresemme conditioner. I first saturated my hair with water and then took a handful and patted it to the front, sides and back. I gently massaged it into my hair since I am trying my best to help prevent my hair from unraveling or frizzing up once it dries. I then let it sit on my hair and then rinsed well by running my twists right under the running water to help get rid of build up. Once I finished co-washing I ran my ecostyler gel on the ends to prevent frizz and lightly oiled my scalp with grapseed oil then snapped a few pics. This is the same method that I always use when I am wearing my hair in twists. Tomorrow I will post pics of my fulled dried twists. Enjoy!

Mop Top Maven Owner of Enso Naturals???

Hey yall,
So I hate to stir the pot and get folks upset but I had to put my own two cents in on this messy situation. So Monday morning I saw a tweet asking if Nicole Crowe is the owner of Enso Naturals. Ok first let me give yall history on Enso Naturals a few months ago I got a follow from this company and being the product junkie that I am I rushed over to their site and checked it out. I was in love and wanted to try everything, I even loved that they had samples but when I got to the checkout the shipping was crazy and I decided to wait. But following the next couple of months a lot of bloggers and naturals ladies that I am following did several reviews and loved the products so again I went to the site and the shipping still bothered me, so I decided to put it on my list of things to try. Well I know yall are wondering what the issue is but Nicole (Mop Top Maven) is a huge blogger and had a booming jewelry store and last winter became ill and didn't send refunds or the products and I have heard folks missed the opportunity to get their money refunded from paypal and she disappeared from the blogsphere, twitter and facebook. Some of the message boards are claiming that the monies that she owes for refund or the product amounts to the tune of 15,000 ( yes I almost screamed when I saw this) and this was used as her start up for the company Anyhoo, I am telling yall this for two reasons first, I don't want anyone thinking that I am telling them not to buy from Enso Naturals because it was never confirmed that she is the owner also I am not saying that she is guilty either but the situation is odd. But the most important thing is because I have my own tiny little store on etsy and I do a lot of my styles with my own products but in no way am I trying to market myself on this blog. This is just me going through the ups and downs of being natural, places in my city and other randomness I come up with. Yes I go by Twisted Marie but it is my middle name my first is Shtonia and is always mispronounced when people see it lol. But I am telling yall this because I appreciate each and everyone of you that come and read my blog and do not want to mislead anyone. So the moral of the story is be careful with any recommendations of any sites and products and  of course follow your own judgment :)

Eyeshadow Looks

Hey yall,
So the other day I was at home bored and decided to try out some make up looks for Friday night since I am going to Alfredo's goodbye dinner( thinking of it makes me sad, but I plan on visiting him a lot in Orlando! :) So I grabbed my makeup bag and tried a few looks. This look below is done with MAC's shell as a primer/base and eyeshadow "family silver" Oh and I pulled my hair half up into a pompadour(pouf) and the back is down.

 *** Ok so I used shell to keep the eyeshadow from creasing and to create a smooth surface, I used the silver portion of the eyeshadow on my lid and placed the darker color into my crease for a blended look. The earrings I made myself a while back. The color on my lip is a matte lip color from NYX in Stockholm. As you can see in the last pic the twists in the front tripled in size*** I love the look so I might try this Friday for the dinner, but I also feel it is neutral enough to wear to work during the day :)

Out And About In City: Echelon 3000

Hey yall,
So yesterday while running over to my best friend Alex's house she mentions to me that she wanted to go out  and asked if I wanted to go. I laughed and said "Umm sure" We went to this lounge Echelon 3000 and I must say that it was a  nice chill environment it was of course a full bar and grill, lined with with leather couches and floor to ceiling lights. We stayed and had a drink and snapped a few pics. We left and went to the Velvet Room and well yeah, I was reminded why I don't go to actual clubs. But this place was a completely different scene! Twists Today

Hey y'all
Just wanted to check in and post a few pics of my hair from today. This is nothing fancy just pulled over from right to left and secured with a bobby pin. I love it because I was able to wear my hair down without having it stuck in my face :)
