My Twist Lately...

Hey yall,
So as you know in my previous post I did a dry twist out on my hair from the ponytail that I wore for a few days and my hair just wasn't looking right to me. I am not exactly sure what it is but I can only assume that my twist are not looking their best because I am not leaving my hair twisted long enough. So this evening I decided to wash my hair as usual and attempt a braid out, I plan on leaving the braids in until Monday before work, stay tuned for the pics. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

My Hair the Past Few Days...

Hey yall,
Happy Saturday! So it has been a few days since I did my henna and indigo treatment and I must say I have gotten a few "your hair looks darker"comments and I am pleased with my hair. I washed my hair on Wednesday and the color still looks good. So I ended up letting my hair air dry and I wore it pulled up in a mid ponytail for a few days. Until Thursday night I started to miss my twist outs and I twisted my hair back up. See the pics below of my twist out and the ponytail that I wore.

I'm A Henna Head Now!!!

Hey yall,
So I told yall the other day about the stuff that I purchased from LUSH and I had been planing to henna my hair last week when I purchased it from LUSH but I have been dragging my feet, so finally today I decided to see what the buzz was all about. This is the first time that I tried henna and I always hear rave reviews about it but knew that it would be time consuming. The henna block that I got from LUSH was made of six smaller block but the the lady from LUSH said to use the entire thing so that's what I did. In a heat resistant bowl I placed the huge block and add boiling water, but made sure it was not to hot because I was told that this would kill the indigo in it. Once I had the mixture into a paste I went into the bathroom with a applicator brush that I picked up from Sally's and begun to apply to my hair. First off I love the smell, it reminded me of warm green tea and cocoa butter since they pack their bars full of cocoa butter. I left it on for about 7 hours and my hair was hard like a brick pulled up on the top of my head. The hard part was rinsing my hair, as you can imagine my bath tub now has a blue tint (I am crossing my fingers the bleach will take away the color). I co washed my hair and then used my shampoo bar until the water ran clear. Once I knew that my hair was free of the henna I braided it into my usual four plaits and then proceeded to rake through my eco styler morrocan argan oil gel and that was it.  I love that I didn't have to detagle much because my hair was so soft from the henna treatment, best of all my hair is almost a blueish black color that I wanted I was hoping that my ends would be darker since the sun turns my hair red in the summer, so I will be doing this treatment every 3 months. The best thing is that I didn't have to buy anything extra except for the gloves LUSH put everything into this henna block for me and nor did it need to sit for the color to release, I have heard that other hennas need to sit for hours for dye release. I love this henna bar and it wasn't a bad price @ 22.95 for a six block square. I plan to go back soon and pick up there fluff- ease henna treatment that they sell I love the way my hair hangs! Tangle Teezer

Hey lovelies,
I went to Sally's today to get the most talked about product on the market the "Tangle Teezer" and have been hearing so many good things about it so I decided to pick it up. When I walked into Sally's I looked around for it and didn't see it, I walked up to the counter and said "I'm looking for ..." and was cut off in the middle of my sentance the lady behind the counter blurted out and said "it's sold out girl we didn't expect for yall curlies to love it as much as yall did, give us a few weeks to restock ok!" I almost walked away because she cut me off but once I realized what she said I smiled and said "it must really be popular!" So there yall have it, they will be restocking them soon. But I did pick up some Eco styler with Morrocan Argan oil, keep an eye out for the review yall!

My twist out didn't last...

Hey yall,
I was so excited to wash my hair on Thursday with my solid shampoo bar and conditioner from LUSH and let me tell you my hair was so freaking soft, I used my handmade buttercream and placed my usual twist. My hair was nice and fluffy when I took it down on Friday before I left for the event. But I did notice that I started to get a little heated while I was at the event (I think the heat was still on) so I decided to steep out on the terrace while there and when I left I rode down the highway with my windows down. I had so much going on that day before I went to the event I had to drive across town to get two new tires and race back home. So at the end of the day I was so tired and went to sleep as usual, but when I woke up the next morning my hair looked like someone let the air out of it. So needless to say I have been rocking a semi wet bun for the past couple of days, see pics below.

Curly Nikki does Atlanta Meet up (Part II)

Hey yall,
Ok so Friday was such an awesome meet up I got to the event somewhat late (traffic was horrible) but I had a great time and met so many naturals and of course I got to take a pic with Nikki. The venue couldn't have been better I am not sure how Nikki was able to come up with it by not being in Atlanta but let me tell you it was great. When I first got on the elevator I wasn't sure exactly where to go but two other naturals got on with me and we chatted a bit and then when we reached the floor for the restaurant, I screamed "Hey they look like us their they are!" Yall it was so many curlies in one place and everybody was all a buzz going by each other and asking what products do you use? I said many "I love your hair what do you use on it" I felt like I said that before saying hello! But it was the topic on everyone's tongue. Anyhoo I stood in a line to take a picture with Nikki and when I got to the front of the line we both screamed "I love you hair" we laughed and took a quick pic together and then mingled around the room with other curlies. It was such a fun event I heard that it was over 250 curlies in the room! (amazing). Not to mention I got a chance to meet the owner of Jessicurl and MahoganyKnots and her blog partner! See pic below of my hair that day, oh and sorry I had to take it with my phone I forgot my camera in the car :-(

LUSH!!!

Hey yall,
Sorry it has been so long last week I went on vacation and then this week I was still on a somewhat vacation from work still. Anyhoo, on Tuesday night I was searching the internet and came upon a company called LUSH and looked around on the website and fell in love. This company makes all natural hair, body and face cosmetics. So on Wednesday I jumped in the car and went to the mall, they are located inside of Macy's in a little corner, but let me tell yall the smell in that little corner is heavenly! As I walked in I was greeted by a lovely curly lady and she had the best glowing skin. We walked around the tables that they have set up and she showed me everything we talked about our decisions to go natural, how long we had been natural, and the best products to use on our curly hair. I spent about two hours in this store and it seemed like I was just chatting with an old friend. She was a wonderful sales assocaite because she asked me my likes and dislikes in regardes to hair products and only showed me items that would work for my curls. She was also honest and gave her "true opinion " on what she tried in the store and the best thing was she wasn't trying to force me into buying everything. So I left with several items and the cool thing is that they also give FREE SAMPLES, now yall know I am hooked. There stuff works so good, granted I did spend about a hundred dollars (I went to two differnet stores so my Mom could see the store) but the products are well worth it. See the pics below of some of the items I purchased, I used a few and will review in my next post.

Hair Pictures

This is so random, but I just wanted to excuse the fact that my bath towel is almost always showing in my pics. But, my bathroom has the best light for my pics, often I can take them without a flash. So I am apologizing because that is the best spot to take pics in my house and it will continue lol !!!

Yesterday's Hair...

Hey yall,
So a few days ago I had been dying to do a wash and go, but didn't have any Kinky Curly on hand, so yesterday I made a mad PJ dash to Whole Foods for a jar. Yall let me back up a bit if you don't know I am crazy about products. Just going to Whole Foods and walking down the health and beauty section gives me joy(laughing). Well anyhoo, I get into Whole Foods and grab the KCCC and notice that their was this new product at the bottom of the shelf...Beautiful Curls. It was way at the bottom and it has a whole product line a styler, conditioner, shampoo, and some kind of wax. I have no clue why I picked up the styler( Beautiful Curls Shea Butter Curl Defining Gel) but I thought what the hey and did it anyway. Fast forward I am at home with soaking wet hair and opening this jar...the consistency is milky but the smell was sweet like apricot. The ingredient list is wonderful, everything is natural and can be easily pronounced. Anyway, I applied it to my hair and it kind of just laid on top of my head for a minute until a friend called and I left home. So here I am driving down the expressway with very damp hair. Fast forward, yall three hours later and I am looking a crunchy dry mess yall. I tried to pull my hair back into a ponytail but it couldn't be saved, sadly I didn't take any pics of my hair once it dried. Pros: the smell and ingredients Cons: not the best product for a wash and go, I had to use a lot to do my hair the jar is almost half gone.It seems that despite the fact it is cheaper than KCCC, overall I would spend more money on this if I used it to replace KCCC. In the end I would not recommend this product, not for what I was trying to do for a wash and go.Don't believe me? Try it yourself available at Whole Foods for about 10 bucks including tax. However, I will be gifting this half used jar to my sis that doesn't do wash and gos :-( See the pics below

XOXO,
Twisted Marie
*Excuse the shirt lol. My hair after applying it kind of laid on my hair.*

See how much I used for one application, the jar is almost gone.

Drug Store Pick ups

Hey yall,
Hope you curlies enjoyed the Super Bowl tonight and had a good weekend. I just wanted to show yall some items that I picked up from Walgreens Friday night it is hair ties(bands) and headbands. These seem to help minimize breakage which I normally don't see much of unless I wear a ponytail for a few days. I haven't had time to test them out because I am still rocking a twist out from Friday pics coming soon.

Twist out 5 day challenge

Ok so yall saw the pics that I posted on Friday of my recent twist out and I was so in love with the style, I got plenty of compliments on how good my hair looked and last time I twisted my hair I made it to 4th day hair and it still looked good, which got me thinking if I could achieve 5th day hair. So with my fresh twist out on Friday I decided to challenge myself to see if I could keep the style looking good. Let me say my hair lasted and then some. I even didn't have a problem with detangling when I washed my hair today actually it was a breeze and last night I pulled my hair into a high ponytail and rocked that for part of today. I am so surprised that my hair held up so well, because over the past 5 days I did a lot with it: I ran around with Louie at the dog park it was 70 degrees in Atlanta on Sunday, went out Monday and got caught in the rain and woke up Tuesday with a little frizz but nothing my KCSS couldn't fix. So in all yall I believe that my handmade buttercream is a hit! Yay me! See my pics below this was my hair on Sunday after the park.
