Spring Has Just About Sprung:Spring Hair Regimen

Hey curlies,
The weather is starting to warm up rather nicely here in Atlanta and it is time for me to change from my current winter regimen (aside from the few rainy days!) Below you will find my current hair regimen, some new products have been added and some taken away.

                                                                 Cleanse
-I am now rotating co-washing once every other week with shampooing with my LUSH solid shampoo bar.
- On the weeks when I only co-wash use TJ's Nourish Spa Conditioner leaving a little bit in after rinsing I run my LUSH solid Jungle conditioner over the four sections of my hair, place four big plaits in each section and allow my hair to air dry for 20 minutes.
-After taking down each section I apply coconut oil and then my veggie glycerin mix to each section.
- Depending on the type of style twist or braids I then use a small amount of my Handmade Hair Moisturizer and then HandmadeTwist styler Cream.

                                                              Maintaining My Style
- When wearing twist outs or braid outs, I will add a small amount of LUSH R & B to my hair every other day once I wake up and shake. My hair will last this way for five days or until time for wash day as long as at night I pull it back into a low, lose pony and the cover with my satin bonnet.
- Around day 4 and 5 my hair starts to frizz a bit and I use a small amount of grapeseed oil to combat the frizz and poof.
                                                              Deep Conditioning
-I have really enjoyed my henna and indigo experience and plan to keep up with it monthly. The henna bars that I purchase from LUSH are already mixed and ready the only thing I need to do is add hot water, patience, apply and wait 8 hours. I also purchased the LUSH Henna and Jasmin Fluff- Ease which can be used to deep condition the directions say to leave on for 20 minutes, but the store associate recommended that I leave it on all night for maximum benefits.
- When I am short on time or if I need to style more than once a week I plan to use my on pre poo treatment from Handmade as an oil rinse. Which will give really good results, either one of these treatments will be done once a month.
                                                              My Ends
- with the harsh dry weather slowly disappearing I am noticing fewer single- strand knots, so as norm when I see them I will do search and destroy sessions at no frequency to help combat them, normally when I see all of them I try to do a protective style to give my hair a break

This is all I have so far, this is normally the time of year that I wear my hair out more and do wash and gos, but the ones that I have attempted recently have not produced the best results so I see more twist and braid outs in my future . :)

Update on Handmade

Hey yall,
I just wanted to give yall an update of the progress that I have been making. I am looking for a projected open date of my online store of May 2011 and I am very excited about what I plan to offer. For the past few months I have whipped up a hair moisturizer, a twist styler cream, a pre poo hair oil treatment and all natural soap. I am still researching ingredients and what works best on curly hair that is also all natural so I will be incorporationg some of these items in my current hair regimine to test. Despite my new creations, I still haven't been able to come up with another name besided Handmade, but I am working on it.

Untwisted...

Hey Curlies,
So much has been going on with me this week, but I did want to check in with yall about what has been going on with my hair lately. So the twist umm...they didn't last too long last week I did a co-wash and braided them up for a braid out and let's just say that Friday morning they did look cute but by that night it was a bit of a frizzy mess. I took them down and have been rocking this bun for the past few days. Just the other day I had a strong desire to rock a sky high big mess bun, but I am waiting to wash day for that look.

Twist Update Week 1

Hey Lovelies,
It has been a week since I put in my twist and I must say I have been enjoying them. I havent't done much with them aside from wearing them down and then half up with the rest down. Since it has now been a week I am thinking of new ways to switch them up. See the pics below of how they are looking.

Twisted Up...Again

Hey yall,
So the past few days have been kind of hit and miss with my hair so I decided to twist my hair up. Normally, I do them really small and it takes me about 10 hours to do them (very time consuming) so I decided to to them bigger and this only took me 5 hours , I took a few breaks(half the time). I divided my hair into four sections and used a new product that I whipped up yesterday( I am still thinking of a name for it). My hair looks a lot darker now that it is in the twist, I plan to keep them in for a month. See the pics below enjoy!
XOXO,

Guess Where I Went???

Hey yall,
That's right I went back to LUSH cosmetics on Saturday to buy some more hair goodies. I admit I am addicted when we got to the counter my friend yelled out" $48.00 for hair stuff!" I just laughed and said "of course I love LUSH," now I am sure he will make fun of my obsession with hair products.

P.S. I plan to henna again soon because the red is coming back on my hair, but I can only assume it is from all this sun we have been getting, so I won't complain :)

My Hair The Past Few Days

Hey lovlies,
I apologize it has been a while since my last post, I know that I was supposed to report back since my braid out but things have been crazy for me. Well the braid out lasted until about Wednesday when I woke up and my hair started to look flat, I used my same night time routine as my twist outs but it simply didn't work. I feel like maybe my hair was already flat to begin with because of the small braids that I used, so I am thinking of maybe doing another just to test the bigger braids. So on Wednesday I decided that I would do a dry twist out with the Garnier Fructis Cream Gel and let me say my hair did not like it one bit, on Friday when I took down my twist my hair just kind of laid on the top of my head. So Saturday I attempted to wear a wet ponytail since it was rainy out and well...that only produced a frizz ball mess. Yesterday was wash day for me so being unsure of what my next move would be for my hair I simply pulled it into a low pony and banded it.

I Did a Braid- out

Hey yall,
So remember the other day I told yall that I was going to attempt to do a braid out on my hair? Well I did and I must say that I adore the results. What I did to achieve this look was wash my hair with my shampoo bar and then use my solid conditioner bar from LUSH. Once I allowed my hair to air dry a little I then proceeded to place my hair in about 20 tight braids (the same placement that I use for my twist). I will admit that the take down was a bit long, it took about 15 minutes, my twist take down is normally 5 minutes or less. See the pics below, I will be attempting to wear this style until Saturday lets hope my hair holds up...I will report back to yall soon!
